Veteran Program
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)
Provided at no cost to veterans and using the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) model, participants work with certified staff and specially trained equines to learn more about themselves and gain emotional, social, and cognitive benefits.
The human-animal bond creates a comforting and secure environment where veterans can navigate and work through emotions that may be challenging to address in standard therapy settings.
Specific Therapeutic Outcomes:
-
Emotional Resilience: Veterans develop the skills to identify and manage their emotional triggers, enhancing their ability to cope with everyday challenges.
-
Trust Building: Interacting with horses helps veterans practice healthy relational skills, rebuilding trust in themselves and others.
-
Stress Management: The natural biofeedback provided by horses helps participants reduce stress and achieve a state of relaxation.
-
Community Reintegration: By improving communication skills during therapy, veterans gain tools to strengthen their relationships and reintegrate into their communities.
Equine-assisted psychotherapy is more than a therapy session; it’s a journey toward growth, empowerment, and healing. Through the unique partnership between humans and horses, veterans can find a path to renewed strength and a brighter future.
