Therapeutic/Adaptive riding provides significant benefits for people with varying abilities, including improved balance, muscle strength, coordination, flexibility, sensory integration, increased self-esteem, confidence, and emotional well-being, all thanks to the rhythmic movement of the horse similar to a human gait and the unique bond formed with the animal itself, making it beneficial for both physical and cognitive disabilities.

    • Physical improvements:

      • Enhanced balance and coordination

      • Increased muscle strength and tone

      • Improved range of motion and flexibility

      • Better posture

      • Sensory integration

    • Cognitive benefits:

      • Improved focus and concentration

      • Enhanced spatial awareness

      • Improved problem-solving skills

    • Emotional and social benefits:

      • Increased self-esteem and confidence

      • Reduced anxiety and stress

      • Improved social interaction and communication skills

      • Sense of accomplishment and empowerment - AND FUN! 😀

    • Movement of the horse:

Therapeutic horseback riding aids in balance, core strength, digestion and speech. The stride of the  horse is a 3 dimensional, symmetrical and rhythmic, repeatable movement which engages the rider's core and diaphragm, which can improve circulation, opens the airways and can aid in speech.

    • Therapeutic relationship with the horse:

Horses are often considered non-judgmental and can provide a calming presence, fostering a sense of trust and connection with the rider.

    • Adaptive equipment:

Specialized saddles and other equipment can be used to accommodate different abilities and needs.

    • Individuals with physical challenges such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, and muscular dystrophy

    • People with developmental challenges such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome

    • Individuals experiencing cognitive challenges

    • Those with emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression
